Putting myself out there

I’ve made several blogs here and there, moving from Blogspot, to Wordpress, to Tumblr, and so on so forth.

But none of them ever lasted more than a month.

It was always a mixture of laziness, inertia and fear that caused each of their eventual termination. Laziness, to commit the time and brain power to churning out new post after new post. Inertia, to keep the momentum going, especially once the other aspects of my life got busier. Fear, to put myself out there and risk criticism and ridicule from potential readers, especially fearing the possibility of my “secret diary” being discovered by friends and family in real life.

Enough is enough.

With today marking the end of my second last year in university, I’ve only got a year left to compile all my thoughts and memories of life as a youth onto some kind of archive, before I move on to the next stage of life.

So, here we go.

Over the next year, I will post a minimum of 12 blog posts. That means one post each month, covering one topic that has defined the past 22 years of my life.

Some ideas off the top of my head:

  1. My life philosophies: minimalism, stoicism, & 麗 (rei)
  2. My ikigai & the ensuing pursuit of the best career for myself
  3. My romantic relationships, & why they have all been long-term
  4. My time in university & why I chose the paths I did, from sociology, to southeast asian studies, to usp and community development
  5. My travels & my obsession with cruising
  6. My other obsession- video games, & why everyone should give them a shot
  7. My organisation strategies: bullet journalling vs notion
  8. Self-development- from reading to gymming to art & music

I’ll also be sharing some of my favourite essays that I’ve written in university, and the most important takeaways from my courses. I’ve also got 3 different capstones in my final year, so there will expect much reflection about them too.

If no one reads them, it’s fine. If I somehow go viral, that’ll be fine too. But this is a project that I am doing for myself, and the commitment I’ve made to this is one that I cannot retract. To the me reading this in the future: No deleting this blog or post until the 12 months is up. >:(

So, here we go.

Time to put myself out there.
